The Forbidden Kingdom..

When Tomorrow’s Entertainment first hit the net we brought you news about The Forbidden Kingdom, now we are here to provide you a preview of the upcoming movie.. I have been looking forward to this movie since I was informed that Jackie and Jet were teaming up,now that I’ve seen the trailer all I can say is - holy shit this looks amazing!! This is what a trailer for this movie should be all about! No need to intro it with that terrible story about the kid being transported back in time, you can figure that out when you see it.. Just focus on the two great martial artists - Jackie Chan and Jet Li - and then spend the rest of the time showing just a few of the awesome fights we’ll see.. But then a second trailer was released.. While the second teaser trailer for The Forbidden Kingdom starts off with goofy humor, the feature version is all about the action.. Sure, it still takes the time to show some humor, but this time we get a full introduction to the cast of characters and their surprising abilities..

An American teenager who is obsessed with Hong Kong cinema and kung - fu classics makes an extraordinary discovery in a Chinatown pawnshop: the legendary stick weapon of the Chinese sage and warrior, the Monkey King. With the lost relic in hand, the teenager unexpectedly finds himself traveling back to ancient China to join a crew of warriors from martial arts lore on a dangerous quest to free the imprisoned Monkey King.. Directed by Rob Minkoff ( Stuart Little, The Lion King.. Wait, what, a Disney director doing a kung fu epic?! ), the film marks the first - ever onscreen pairing of martial arts superstars Jackie Chan ( Rush Hour, Drunken Master ) and Jet Li ( Fearless, Once Upon a Time in China ).. The original screenplay by John Fusco ( Young Guns, Hidalgo ) is based on the traditional Chinese legend of the Monkey King.. The film is produced by Casey Silver ( Ladder 49, Hidalgo, the upcoming Leatherheads ) of Casey Silver Productions.. Renowned action choreographer Wo Ping ( The Matrix, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon ) is creating the fight sequences, and the director of photography is Peter Pau ( Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon )..

Jackie Chan may be old, past his prime, and incapable of pulling off half the stunts that made him famous, but I’m excited about seeing him in The Forbidden Kingdom.. In it, he returns to playing a Drunken Master, the fighting style that figured prominently into not only his best movie, but maybe the greatest martial arts movie ever made: Drunken Master II..

You’d think by now Jackie Chan and Jet Li would’ve already made a movie together.. After all, they’re the biggest Asian movie stars on the planet and have made over 100 movies between the two of them.. But they haven’t, until now..

Maybe Jackie can’t pull off those same eye - popping, drunken moves anymore, but I’m dying to see him try.. I’ll be there opening night for The Forbidden Kingdom in April hoping that Chan has enough gas in the tank for one last stumbling, monkey - punching adventure..

Lionsgate has just given us five brand new character posters for The Forbidden Kingdom, one of which is Jackie as the Drunken Immortal.. Check them all out below by clicking on the thumbnails:

The Forbidden Kingdom will be fighting it’s way into theaters from the on 18th April 2008..
