Last week we recieved an email from a trusted source about some Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins news.. Then shortly after we received another email from another trusted source, they both agree that Christian Bale, has signed on official to star in the upcoming Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins , aka Terminator 4.. Both sources are pretty reliable, but said that I should try to confirm this one on my own, since it was so weird.. For the last two days I’ve been trying to get something out of Bale’s publicist or agent, and have had no luck..

Now as we said, Christian Bale has officially signed on, but the question is, for which part? One source has said he has heard he has signed on to play an adult John Connor.. While the other says he has been casted for The Terminator..

Now before we start on this, the other official news that Tomorrow’s Entertainment can bring you is that McG has signed up to direct the opening installment of the new film which aims to re - invent the franchise and will feature a full - scale war between the Skynet computer system and the remnants of humanity.. This event was integral in the mythology of the original movies and this telling of the war will include a fresh perspective spread over three movies with brand new characters..

Now after doing some thinking, Bale starring in this film makes sense.. First of all, he has nothing lined up during the strike except Killing Pablo, and we all know that Joe Carnahan movies can come and go in a moment’s notice.. But also, Bale wants a payday.. Our understanding is that he’s not making movie star money from the Batman films, and he needs to make movie star money if he’s going to go off for six months and not get paid to make a small indie.. A three picture Terminator deal ensures that Bale can keep following his muse and make the movies he wants to make, as well as pay the mortgage..

So the question is - is he John Connor or The Terminator? Who else is better to play an unsmiling robot than Mr. Grim himself? And the bad guy role isn’t a bad one in this franchise, after all.. But of course he’d make a fine - and very grim - rebel leader as well.. I’d actually like to see Bale as the Terminator - I feel like he has the kind of menace that could be fun in that role.. For the movie Bale’s presence adds a ton of cred - not just with the geeks but with the critics.. And if you’re McG, it helps you ensure that maybe your film is a little bit better than it might otherwise have been..

So it seems Eddie Furlong can finally load the bullets in the pistol, because rumours suggesting he was going to be asked back to reprise his T2 version of John Connor was ostensibly spurious..

After the drastic effects of Terminator 3, the story continues as John Connor and soon to be wife Kate Brewster realize they must create a resistance organization with Earth’s remaining survivors against the army of robots slowly being built up by Skynet.. As they are building this resistance, one survivor happens to be a traitor in disguise, and has a secret that nobody would ever come to suspect..

While nothing has been confirmed, Arnold Schwarzenegger, jokingly referred to as the ” Governator,” may still make a cameo appearance.. According to MGM Chariman and CEO Harry Sloan..

” I think it’s in his contract..”

Whatever the case, Bale is the star of Terminator Salvation.. Of course the role he has been cast for isn’t official, but I imagine I was getting stonewalled precisely because this deal is happening.. Expect an official announcement in the coming days..

My sources in Hollywood have assured me that Christian Bale John Connor in Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins.. However, word around town is that John Connor is NOT the main character in the film, as the story focuses on a new character, with Connor taking more of a secondary role..

Tomorrow’s Entertainment spoke to producer Derek Anderson and he said..

” Whilst the role of John Connor is that of an ” ongoing, very central character throughout the next trilogy, another lead character who is a new figure is just as important.. It’s questionable if he’s an enemy or not.. That’s not necessarily resolved..”

Is it a Terminator character?

“Well, it’s hard to say.. It is a new character introduced in the mythology that’s not replacing Arnold [ Schwarzenegger ].. It’s not like he’s stepping into Arnold’s shoes.. It’s a completely new character..”

He adds that..

” It’s a really interesting time in the franchise because it’s where all the fans have always wanted the franchise to go, and it hasn’t to date, which is the post - apocalyptic world.. It’s after judgment day.. So because we’re in a different time in the mythology, it introduces a whole new set of circumstances and characters..”

Will Schwarzenegger return?

” It still hasn’t been determined, but if he does, it would be a very small cameo..”

Pretty interesting that they’re casting such a high - profile actor in such a minor role, isn’t it? What could this mean?
