As to the no fly/no suit thing, I will say that ending the series without both will seem like a letdown. Doomsday coming is, well, as you said a disaster. Bleah.. bleah bleah. Me and a friend were discussing how the series should end, and it should do so with Clark being hired at the paper finally and a pan/shot image of Welling /flying/ away, in the suit...
