Warner Bros. has unleashed the full - length domestic trailer for the Wachowksi Brothers’ Speed Racer, for our money, this is the best one so far.. We still have a lot of questions on this movie, though.. Some of the racing sequences look absolutely stunning and, in places, the day - glo look works incredibly well.. But we’re still not clear what the Wachowskis are going for here.. Are they making a children’s movie or do they want the Matrix audience too? Because this looks like it will play very young to us.. And is it deliberately campy to stay in tune with the silliness of the cartoon, or is that just what automatically happens when you have so much pink on screen and characters with names like Speed?

You’ve got to salute the filmmakers for trying something very different.. We just hope it all works together.. The silver screen adaptation stars Emile Hirsch, Christina Ricci, John Goodman, Susan Sarandon and Matthew Fox.. Based on the classic 1960’s series created by anime pioneer Tatsuo Yoshida that later was retooled for North American audiences, the film follows the adventures of the young race car driver Speed in his quest for glory in his thundering gadget - laden vehicle, Mach 5..
