HellRaiser Update..
Recently Tomorrow’s Entertainment informed you that HellRaiser was up for a remake.. Well we recent heard that the project is moving forward with Clive Barker sitting back to watch over Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury, who are set to direct the upcoming remake..
Barker stated..
” I will watch over two Frenchmen who will remake it and only because I think they are two very splendid young men who made a fucking great movie.. I like them both.. I like the movie Inside.. It’s very good, very bloody and they are very nice smart guys who have a commitment to the original movie..”
” I think it’s all the more reason that they remake it; that they don’t take my version of the story.. I had some specific suggestions, which I don’t want to spoil for you or anyone else, about how things might be taken up a notch or two.. And you know S&M just isn’t what it used to be! So if we’re to do the whips and chains and the hooks we have to do them at a whole new level because I thinks its tired material..”
Tomorrow’s Entertainment main question, which I believe ever HellRaiser fan is wondering, was whether Doug Bradley will be return as Pinhead.. Barker claimed..
” I wish I knew.. I don’t think they even know at this stage..”
Of course with this answer we decided to ask the man himself.. Bradley stated..
” I don’t know anything more than anyone else.. I have no idea whether anybody intends I will be involved in it, but I will do it again like a shot.. If it involved taking different beats with Pinhead, that would also be fine by me.. I think there are lots of areas that we never looked and never went to.. History is not on my side with remakes that don’t intend to use original cast.. You know, if it’s going to happen, it’s going to happen - and I wish it absolutely nothing but good, if I’m involved or not..”
” Gary Tunnicliffe ( HellRaiser sequel FX artist ) called me with the news that they were doing it..”
Reportedly, Maury and Bustillo want to rethink the Pinhead character to distance themselves from the long line of lousy direct-to-DVD Hellraiser flicks, and series creator Clive Barker seems to be on the same page.. Bradley added..
” I have to be diplomatic if I have any chance of being in it.. But when I hear ‘ reimagining,’ all I think about is what an awful word that is..”
The film is aiming to be released sometime in 2008..
