HellRaiser Remake..
Well I am sure everyone is freaking out right now since it would seem HellRaiser is up for a remake.. No doubt you horror fans are turning over in your graves.. I know die hard horror fans hate the words remake and in alot of cases they have good reason to freak out.. But Clive Barker, whose spine - tingling films have terrified audiences across the globe, is set to team with Dimension Films to remake his most celebrated thriller, HellRaiser.. Barker will write the screenplay and serve as a producer.. Recently Clive Baker had this to say..
” They’re going to remake Hellraiser with a lot more money and they’ve invited me to write it - the invitation came from Bob Weinstein - which I am going to do, on the basis that if I don’t do it, it will be done in some way that I probably won’t like! It’s only that one that I really, really, really care about in terms of its remake value - and it’ll be kind of fun to have the extra money to do the effects and all that cool stuff..”
Bob Weinstein stated..
” We are excited to be in business with Clive Barker who created such an iconic character with Pinhead.. We look forward to working with him to bring his fantastic vision to the big screen for a new generation of fans..”
The Weinsteins have just announced that not one but two directors will take on the challenge of directing the remake of Clive Barkers horror classic..
Rumors have it, Dimension films are in hard negotiations with directors Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury, to helm the upcoming remake of Clive Barker’s Hellraiser.. Both were the directors if the recently released Inside, which The Weinstein Co. acquired in Cannes earlier this year..
Based on The Hellbound Heart novel by Clive Barker and the 1987 film Hellraiser, a man finds he is given more than he bargains for when he solves the puzzle of the Lament Configuration - a doorway to hell.. But his ex - lover has found a way of bringing him back, and his niece, Kirsty Lawrence, finds herself bargaining with the Cenobites, angels to some, demons to others, whose greatest pleasure is the greatest pain..
Barker’s film career continued in many different capacities on such films as Candyman, Nightbreed, Candyman 2: Farewell to the Flesh, Lord of Illusions, Gods and Monsters, & Saint Sinner..
During this time, Barker remained a force in the literary world, and publishing such novels as: Weaveworld, The Great and Secret Show, Everville, Imajica, Sacrament, Galilee, Coldheart Canyon, The Thief of Always, & Damnation Game, to name but a few, several of which have been set up with film and television studios through his Seraphim Films..
I honestly wouldn’t mind the remake, as long as Doug Bradley returns for the role of ‘ Pinhead..’
