AvP 2 Update..
Is this the first look at Predalien ( Hybrid ) in the AvP2 movie?
We all know that the PG - 13 toned down nature of Alien vs Predator was its major downfall.. Well, that and the fact that the story wasn’t all that good, but I remain optimistic that Alien vs Predator 2 will be better and considering they are going for an R - rated film this time around is good, but the fact that they are heading back into the city, a la Predator 2 is a little bit of bad news..
However, we all remember the end of AvP and the little hybrid alien that hatched, well it appears a maquette of the hybrid has been leaked and it looks pretty damned cool as you can see from the pic above.. ( As all pics posted on ” Tomorrow’s Entertainment ” click on to enlarge )
Though the Alien ( s ) franchise ended at the second installment for me, it is nice to see the studios getting creative.. AvP didn’t really do anything for me, but that’s not stopping an AvP 2 and what looks like a new creature altogether.. But to be quite honest, I am still unsure about this maquette as I have seen sketches of similar before.. As you can see here..
But then again, maybe this is what they will be using as a new creature in the upcoming Alien vs Predator: Survival of the Fittest, and will be looking forward to seeing it in action on the big screen..
This could have been a really good Xmas blockbuster but it fails for the following reasons.
1. After the predator ship from AVP crashes back to earth and the predators discover that something has gone wrong they only send one predator back to clean up the mess knowing that the aliens will be multiplying like rabbits. The movie would have been more interesting if a squad of predators were sent to clean up the mess.
2. In Predator II and AVP there was a predator mother ship standing by to observe how the predator hunters made out. There was no mother ship in AVP2. The predator in AVP2 was out there alone trying to defeat hundreds of aliens.
3. In AVP it was established that when the Aliens started winning the battles the predators would just nuke the whole town in order to contain them. Again where was the mother ship in AVP2? In AVP2 the sneaky U.S. government nukes the town.
4.The town sheriff is really dumb. I mean really really dumb to the point of making some of the scenes downright boring.
5. The movie spends too much time on human interest stories (boy meets girl, little girl loses Daddy, little boy loses Daddy) when the Aliens and Predators should have been duking it out.
6. A young man loses his keys down a sewer. He and his brother climb down and walk all up and down the sewer looking for the keys. The law of gravity says that the keys would be directly below the grate where they fell. Why are they walking all up and down the sewer network looking for the keys? And why don’t they just have a spare set? Wouldn’t that be easier? I know this scene was a setup for an encounter with an Alien but don’t insult my intelligence in doing so. Terrible script.
7. The predator didn’t seem to have a strategy. He was just wandering around town trying to eliminate an impossible number of Aliens. He could have used lots of help from his boys back on planet Predator. They abandoned him. Why??
8. At end of movie a sneaky government bureaucrat brings a captured predator weapon to a higher up sneaky government female bureacrat. Why does she look like Condi Rice??
All in all the movie is ok. I could have waited for it to come on cable and saved $20 (ticket, popcorn soda). On a scale from 1 to 10 I’d give it a 6.5. The script just isn’t that good.
